John, I don't see a problem using this tip with a muffler if you have a good exhaust guy. The tip can be cut short and welded directly to the muffler. The tip can work if your muffler guy is willing to take the extra effort. The longer I have this tip on my car, the more I like it. Currently I am looking for three small pieces of METAL stainless or chrome door edge guards to put on the 3 dividers in the tip. I tried plastic and it looked awesome. Once around the block they melted into a mess!!!
