Hey Gang,
After all the downbeat posts concening the 1st gear and tire problems with #2815, there is hope very close at hand!!!
The transmission was ordered Tuesday and is going in as I write this!!! The tire was also ordered on Tuesday and is now in California. It will be here Monday or Tuesday. The dealer is willing to put a temporary plug in the tire as long as I refrain from any high speed cornering and driving. Of course I'm going to keep it for a backup spare. (Boy, I sure would of hated being stuck in Backwater USA waiting for a tire, this was bad enough).
I was in contact with a supervisor at Michelin N. America in Greenville, SC this morning (if you need a name and phone number, e-mail off line). A few things I was able to find out:
¥ The Pilot Sport 2 is not officially being introduced to the public untill Mar 2004. Hence the lack of availability. There are many within Michelin that are very unhappy that this tire was put on the car without it being unveiled to the public.
¥ Keep in mind that this tire is a specialty tire and 95% of tire dealers will never have it in stock. Most likely there will always be a day or two wait to get the tire from a wharehouse near you.
¥ Michelin is "very" proud of this tire. To that end... if you have a "low" milage tire that has suffered road hazard damage, Michelin will give a substantial "goodwill" discount on a new tire. Either call them direct or have whoever orders your tire ask. In my case, I pay the dealer full price, FAX my bill of sale and Michelin is going to rebate me a large portion of the cost of the tire.
So............ it looks like #2815 will be on the road this evening, tomorow at the latest!!! Then I can just bore everyone with my posts on how I'm enjoying the car!!!
PS: For some of you who have been in touch with DC for problems on your car, who were you in contact with??? How about posting some names and phone numbers??? I could not get by a customer service rep. They refused to put me or my wife through to any kind of supervisor or manager. To do that they said use the web site or write a letter. That's CRAP!!!
