I would agree with you, I think it must be the heat aswell, from my experience just turning the lights on in the garage and breaking the glass.
Most people who have had broken fog lights on there Crossfires would have put it down to a stone hitting it, I bet alot of them would be down to heat.
I have cross referenced the bulbs out of my spot lights and come up with these led's, low voltage so low heat, I am going to give them a try .
