Yes, that is the ring that the CPS picks up and generates pulses from. I am guessing that the little piece of metal that broke off damaged it. It was odd that it wouldn't start when cold(brrrr cold) but if I connected the battery charger and set for cranking amps it would start right up. Also when the engine was good and heated up it would start every time.

My only theory is that the damage to the ring made it marginal and when cold it would be just out of range of the CPS and when hot it would expand and be just in range.... But that dosent explain the starting with the charger connected....

I am just so happy to be able to drive it ANY time I want now...
