My question is: I'm pretty sure my IC pump is going or gone (based on symptoms others have described). How essential is it to replace this part? Can I still drive the car without damaging it? (I do intend to replace it eventually, but just don't have the cash this month). I don't drive the car hard if that matters. Second, could someone please explain to me what exactly an IC pump is and what it does (please explain as if you were talking to a child.. I'm not very car savvy, but I am really trying to learn!!) Thanks!! Haley
you can drive the car but will lose over 100hp and if the ecu senses to much heat it will put the engine in limp mode with hardly no power. best to get it fixed. 149$ for the pump and less than 1 hr to replace.

the i/c circulates the fluid from the intercooler to the heat exchanger and back. if your in a pinch the exact same pump is located just above the i/c pump. its for the heater and can be used for the i/c pump until the funds allow you to replace it
