You could always put a little fat matt just around the offending shocks tower. It's out of sight. I could the hear squishing, perhaps, because I cut little doors in the fender covers for a rear strut bar. The strut bar didn't do anything positive for the handling that I could identify so it's in the closet too but the doors remain.
