hmmm...one important fact that i have observed with polishing the Crossfire is the hard clearcoat. Crostfire2, when you mentioned "1000 rpm," were you talking about using a rotary? All I can say is that anything under a speed of 4 on the Porter Cable dual-action orbital 7424 will do almost nothing to remove swirls. High speed is important to get some polishing ability from the PC, as well as a fairly aggressive pad.
