As mentioned the sensor is part of the plate.
This is a great price for one.

The job isn't for the simple mechanic.

Another thing to consider since you were playin' with electrics is perhaps the TCM Transmission Control Module have have gotten jacked.
Easiest thing to do to check this is have a fellow member allow you to put your suspect TCM in his car and see if his car now is in limp mode. I wouldn't recommend putting his in your car to test if your car goes out of limp mode for fear of jacking his TCM.

Any volunteers in the New Jersey area!?

Have you checked for fault codes yet?
