We replaced the Oil Sending unit this weekend and here's the run down.
- Drain the oil... Duh
- Went to lunch with a friend. (leave Steve with the car to start working
)
- After returning from lunch notice that Steve has already gotten the lower oil pan off and is almost done cleaning the liquid gasket off.
- Remove oil sending unit clip. (squeeze and pull) It's above the upper oil pan.
- Remove 4 bolts holding sending unit on and remove sending unit.
- Install new oil sending unit.
- Torque bolts down to 89 in lbs
- Get to work cleaning the liquid gasket off the upper oil pan.
- Drink a beer while Dillon (friend that went to lunch with me) start cleaning the liquid gasket off the upper oil pan
- Watch Steve use power tools to get the liquid gasket off the upper oil pan.
- Place RTV compound on the lower oil pan and put it back on the car.
- Realize I put one of the shorter bolts in the spot of one of the longer bolts
- Watch Steve figure out where I put the wrong bolt in while drinking another beer.
- Torque bolts down to 10 ft lbs... I think
- Re install splash sheild
- Wait an hour and fill it with oil
- Start car and get ready to leave just to realize I forgot to put the connector back on the new oil sending unit...
- Jack car back up
- Remove splash shield
- push connector back into the oil sending unit
- Replace Splash shield
- Lower car back down to the ground
- Leave
