I believe Im due for a fuel filter swap. Would that likely fix the issue, or should I look into something else as well?

Thanks!
Before I looked at the fuel filter I'd look at the air filter and plugs depending on your maintenance. Everyone talks of changing the fuel filter which is a waste of money most times unless you buy your gas at a run down gas station in the boonies. The environmental laws these days make it hard to get away with using a leaky underground fuel tank.
The last fuel filter that gave me trouble was on a '66 Mustang with a fuel filter 3/4" diameter and an inch long. I still have the filter and the car and I'm not sure which is in the best condition. The car has 69,000 miles on it and maybe the rust is in the filter as well.
It really is a shitty car but lovable.
