Its good to know that you and Doc have not had any problems with marks on the paint work, I think so long as you keep a good coat of wax polish on there, and keep the hood rubber seal clean it should be fine. When I drive mine I always have the hood down anyway, I think also the 350Z roadsters don't have a rubbing strip either? so I can't see a problem long term, but if I do, I can always refit the strip, so there's nothing to loose by giving it a try
