Default Re: Reading Transmission Dipstick Tool 722.6

Recently I was at a GTG where a "mechanic" was available to do some maintenance items. I had him change my oil and filter AND drain and refill my transmission. I supplied all the oils and stuff, and all he had to do was the grunt work. Previously, when I bought my xFire in March 2010, I found that the tranny fluid was really low, and I added 2 qts of Mobil1 synthetic tran oil. At that time I noticed that when the tranny shifted from 2nd to 3rd when just lightly tickling the accelerator at around 2600 RPM, I would get a low "drone" until it downshifted to 3rd. This only appeared to happen when the tran was cold.
After I had the tran fluid drained, I had the same "drone" at the 2nd to 3rd gear downshift at 2600rpm, AND again at the 3rd to 4th downshift point at about 3600 RPM. This drone only was apparent when "tickling" the accelerator, but now was louder and happened even when warm.
I checked the tranny fluid level with my "woody" dipstick and found that the fluid was way overfilled. Evidently the mechanic drained the fluid by letting it drain, and then assumed he had to add the 10 qts of proper Mopar fluid I provided. Actually by just draining the fluid, he was able to only get out about 5 to 6 qts. So in essence he overfilled the tranny by 4 to 5 qts!
Today, I used a pump out machine and got out the 4 to 5 qts, so the level in the transmission is now correct. I then took it out to road test, and found I didn't get this "drone" at both shift points when warm. I will now let the car cool down and see if it is completely gone. I hope ....... STAY TUNED .... I'll follow up
