Sure it matters if it doesn't work. Everything on your car should work as advertised, after all you paid good money for it. Take it to your dealer if it doesn't work but try it again:
- Turn your key all the way to the right but do not start the engine.
- Wait 5 - 10 seconds and you will get and oil icon.
- Push the little stalk on the left just below the display.
- It will then show the status of your oil level.
