It's not unusual for a dealer to give you misinformation about a Crossfire, always check here 1st.
Base cars all had manual cloth seats. I'm 6'2" and I've sat in RickZ's beautiful base car and it felt like it was roomier than my 04 with leather seats.
There is one option for you (if you really liked that base car), and that would be to pick up a pair of seats from a salvage yard like LKQ. Usually they have some pretty good prices.
If you don't mind having an automatic, then a SRT would be an excellent choice, especially if you like to drag race. But a Base or Limited does everything the SRT does except get to a 150mph as quickly.
