Re: Almost bit the Big One
Max, having you as friend, is great. I wouldn't have expected anything different. Just wish we lived closer for a drink or two now and then...
I too had an occasion to thank someone who helped me one night. I was working security at a resturant that is very well known, but is located out in the middle of nowhere. The owner/chef and I are friends, and will work security for him now and then. I rode the Harley out, running late to get there on time. Forgot to check the gas tank. It's midnight and this biker looking dude (ME) runs out of gas in the middle of no mans land. I have push this sucker for a couple of miles now, and am resting, ready to tackle a hill in front of me. It's around 1 am and the thought of someone coming along is all but over. Well, Mom and Pop, in a mini, are coming home from a midnight run to the grocery store, and stop to help. I told them I had run out of gas, and asked to use their cell phone if they had one, as mine had long been dead. I tried to call home, my sons, no one is answering. I thanked them, and told them I wasn't leaving the bike, but thanks for the offer for a ride. I am pushing this Harley up this big hill, when the mini van showed up again, with a 2 gal gas can, full of gas. I tried to pay them, wouldn't here of it. And off they went into the night. Never having to tell them I was a cop, not once as they were more than willing to help, I ran their plate. Long story short, I sent them a gift card for dinner for two at that 5 star resturant I had just left. Best $50 I ever spent for gas. Nice job Max...we aren't as mean as we look....lol.....
