Default Re: Insurance for Hoghly modified/V8 Crossfires

Quote 'I just got my XF last week, and put a full coverage insurance policy on it through the same people I insure my motorcycle with (Progressive). The premium sounds about right, and they are offering me a program called “snapshot” where you connect a device to the car that tracks your driving habits such as how often, start/stop tendencies, speed, etc. They say that I can save up to 30% on my premium if my stats come back as a low risk driver.

I’ve signed up with the program, but am by no means obligated to participate. I’ve not heard of Hagerty’s down here in San Antonio.'

Hagerty is nationwide, but only insures certain classes of vehicle, eg antique or classic. The difference is , on an agreed value policy, they will pay you a predetermined amount, unlike most insurance companies, who will give you 'blue' or 'black' book value if it is declared a total loss. If my convertible, which has only 7500 mls was written off, I would probably only get $13-14k for it from Geico etc, which would not be enough to replace it, however with Hagerty, I get a value which we agreed on prior to the insurance coverage being taken out. Of course there are some restrictions, but at least if the worst happens, I get enough money to find another low mileage one.
You may think I'm paranoid about a total loss, but with the scarecity of parts, it doesn't take much to total a crossfire
