Default toxic bird in the neighborhood

I don't have the luxury of a garage so my car is exposed to the elements, no big deal since i wash and wax it so often. I have been sick for a week and a bird plopped a quarter size bomb on my hood. It was probably there for a couple of days before I noticed it, long story short it is etched into the paint and will need to be professionally repaired. I rubbed it , polished it black wax, it disappears and then shows the following day. Does anybody in my situation use a car cover on a regular basis. I have a real good felt lined one for the winter but was thinking of getting something for the summer to prevent this from happening again. I have been told that the cover would do more damage (paint rubbing )then it would prevent. Is there a safe, lightweight easy on/off cover for a roaster to use in the summer?
