The top can be stopped by just letting up on the button. Problem is ... if its in the half-up position for more than 10 minutes (I think thats the time), the hydraulics are automatically released and the top will just fall back. If you search for it, I think there has been posted an easy correction to bring the hydraulics back. I personally just recycle the top to get another 10 minutes or so. Someone may chime in on this further........
If I'm anticipating the top to be at half mast for any period of time (to change tail light bubs, whatever) I keep the rear end of the top propped apart from the tonneau panel with a short length of wood cut to size. If the top is allowed to droop down, the possibility exists for the sequencing to get out of whack upon power up.
