Are you at full throttle or do you have the pedal mashed to the floor thereby depressing the kick down switch under the right pedal?

BTW, where are you in PR? I lived in Mayaguez for ~3 years and worked in Anasco. I love the west end of the island. Rincon, Aquadilla, Boqueron. I can still taste the steak San Jacobo at El Estoril in downtown Mayaguez. And the rotisserie chicken at La Marina bakery is the best I've ever had. If you ever get the chance, look up Nali's Kid's place in Anasco (that's all people called it) for some excellent arroz y habichuela. Don't know what he did but the guy could make rice and beans a gourmet meal.
