Actually, it can hurt a lot.
I came out two weeks ago to find muddy paw-prints and hair on the top of my coupe. After hitting it with detail spray, I then realized the horror of two inch-long "claw marks" on the roof. Not sure if the cat got spooked, or if maybe it was rolling around and the collar rubbed the paint. But either way, I have to get it buffed out.
