exactly what I have done all these years. It always worked for me and the tires would be good for a month or so, always arriving at shows with the whitewalls gleaming. The problem seems to be the new tires purchased last year. The S.O.S. pads I have used for the last 30yrs, all of a sudden didn't do the job....They don't make 'em like they use to.......!
Just to share....this is my '82 Volvo, original owner and the car is 100% OEM stock. It will be judged next month at a Concours d' Elegance event and just won 1st place at a Volvo event this past Sunday...

What tires did you buy? I have the American Classic and SOS works really well. I thought you needed something that didn't need a rinse during a car show. That's when i use an all purpose cleaner.
Congrats on the Volvo. I'm a long Time Volvo guy. I regret selling my 87 that I kept so clean for over 15 years.
