When you're in the right gear hanging the tail out really isn't that hard. Takes abit of practice and a lot of feathering the throttle. You've got to catch it before the computer does.
At a 90° I'm assuming you're approaching them super slow and then turning really hard and slamming your foot down? Don't slam the foot down, instead aggressively increase the throttle, then back off slightly, and then feather the throttle from there. Don't expect to be looking straight down the road out of your side window though. The car just isn't designed for it.
