Hello Eric,
I hand built my shift **** for my 6 speed, and I'm not sure as to what thread pattern you are refering to.
There is a retaining nut on the bottom of the OEM ****, but it does'nt thread onto the actual shifter shaft. You loosen that from the ****, and the **** pulls up and off from the shaft. Be careful of the leather boot.
