Seriously what I don't get is why some people feel that any manner in which one attempts to mitigate or avoid disaster is a negative thing, and sitting around, doing nothing is somehow more noble. If you head for the hills and nothing happens - you had a nice road trip. If you sit home and end up getting plucked off the roof of your house by a helicopter after 3 days...
And, of course, the people who refuse to do anything to be prepared for the worse, then end up looking to those who did prepare, for help and resources.
