Just buy an SRT-6. The Limited engine has a higher compression ratio and mostly different internals in the bottom end, meaning it's going to be harder to get it to take as much boost as an SRT-6 without causing shenanigans.
The SRT-6 engine is built to take boost, comes with a supercharger, and SRT-6es are only $3000-$5000 more than Limiteds now - a steal considering that most decent superchargers are over $1500 alone without any supporting parts.
If your issue is that you want a manual transmission, it *is* possible to mate an SRT-6 to a manual with a different crankshaft and a ton of blood, sweat, and tears (and/or money). HDDP here on the forums has done it, but he replaced the entire engine management system at the same time so he didn't have to deal with angry German electronics. I suspect that Rudy and team at Accelerated Industries might be able to tame the electrical German beast by now (possibly with some help from the Eurocharged crew), but I don't know for sure because I don't think anyone's done it.
https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ransplant.html is more information on HDDP's swap if you're interested.
Rumor has it the manual also won't take the power of an SRT-6 engine, especially tuned, but since nobody's really tried nobody really knows.
^^^ Lots of good info here.
Technically speaking, there have been several Mercedes 320 motors on the interwebs supercharged with a Kleemann kit, one of the only "complete" blower kits offered for the N/A 320 motor. Bad news, they're only pushing 7-8 PSI and they're $8,000 (plus install). I've talked to Rudy at length about the Kleemann setup and he's not a huge fan.
For $8,000, you'd be much happier buying a used '32 AMG/SRT motor and swapping it in, as you can generate potentially three times the boost, and the internals are built to take it. They can be found for as little as $3,000 although,
caveat emptor. Install is a bear and not recommended unless your name is Rudy Compart.
Mercedes never paired the manual with the Kompressor motors for fear of longevity, however there are those in the know that think the 6MT is more than capable under stock SRT numbers. With a heavily modded Kompressor motor, certain things will go "pop"
Rough estimates from Rudy put the swap ('32 motor into N/A chassis) at ~$12,000 give-or-take... turn-key.
If one could find a 6-cylinder Kleemann kit for $5,000 and pay Kleemann (Cory at national HQ in Colorado is a standup guy and very adept) then you'd have a winner. Coupled with the 3.27 gearing, it would be plenty quick and should put down respectable performance.
Two problems with that: finding a cheap Kleemann Kit, and hoping the internals will last more than 15,000 miles after the install.
Buying an SRT and selling the Limited is the quickest fix. There is a new TCU mod in the works for the auto-stick guys that makes owning a manual basically pointless... if my car was any color other than Alabaster, I would consider upgrading. It all comes down to your goals for the car.
