We have a 2004 Automatic and had grinding noise when wheels were turned to left only when backing out of driveway over small hill. Turned out to be the front left tire scrubbing the wheel well when the shock was depressed just so when backing out of the driveway. Some of the undercarriage on the passenger side just below the wheel well came too close to Mother earth apparently (no one will confess to this) and bent the upper part of the wheel well in just the fraction needed to make it scrub.
