Same noise if brakes are on or off, just coasting in neutral makes the same noise. Brakes do not vibrate at all when applied and pads are thick, Rotors look good.
A bit of vibration in the wheel starting at 80K and up to highway speeds but not horrible.
When I bought the car in the sproing this year there were aftermarket rims with a bigger center bore and no hub centric rings, I have put the hub centric rings in now and that reduced some other shaking the car had. I tested the oiginal rims & tires on the back and the noise remains exactly the same so I have ruled out the tires & rims for the back.
I was thinking wheel bearings but I believe when wheel bearigns are bad they make noise that is like a constant hum and not only every tire rotation? Is that correct? Wondering if the fact they ran non hubcentric rims for a couple of years screwed yup the wheel berings making them sound like that or messed up something eles I'm nothinking of? Is there a wy to test & se if the wheel berings are bad?
I read in this thread about he drive shaft bearing (hanger bearing I think), anyone now how would I test that to see if it is the problem?
Thanks for any help.
PS - 45,000 miles on my Xfire if that helps.
