Does anyone know where to buy the tubing /fitting to build the vent kit and collection pot?
I think that the battery makers supply these kits and in some cases they are attached to the batteries, sometimes they come separately. The sales clerks know nothing about them if they haven't seen them.

The Varta batteries came with a vent kit, the Mercedes part number on the Vent Catch Can is A000 541 00 63.

Ask for one and see what happens, Allstate does supply them according to my inquiries and will mail them out. What this kit consists of I have no clue. Keep your Varta ones as they fit and will avoid the car being eaten if the battery does spill out some acid. This acid is quite strong and will eat the bodywork, make no mistake about that. Any signs of corrosion around your terminals will tell you that it is leaking somewhere. Normally this is around the terminal itself through a little crack, it may only be acidic gases but it could be actual liquid acid.

Battery Catch Can on the battery. You can see the little vent holes for the gases in the top of it.

Battery vent hole with Teflon tape for a tighter fit.

A simple plastic plug is in the other end of the battery.
