Heya Franc, I just stumbled on a sweet deal on the charger/pair of batteries/car charger for my midland FRX radios. The complete kit (Midland model MIDAVP4) was 5 bucks plus 1/2 shipping special at 2.75 shipping, and they shipped same day! Most of the runs, whether on the Dragon or other routes are more like parades than autocrossing so itis easy to be gentle on your baby.
Just don't try to run with crazy guys like OleDoc2U and you will be fine.
