I believe the first digit indicates country of origin. Our CF's have a 1 for USA, even though they were made in Germany, not Stirling Heights like Chrysler is trying to say.
It would be interesting to see what the first digit is on those 5 SLK's made over here. Conventional wisdom would say a 1 but who knows?
