It's not the labor, which I will gladly pay. Apparently the Valeo and Bosch units do not interchange, and Chrysler has them on back order. That's why my Chrysler dealer went to the MB dealer and they were quoted $1100. I have found a local shop that will give me 24-hour turnaround to rebuild mine, and I think I'll go that way.

Regarding interchange, specifically the technician (not the service advisor) said the holes do not line up and he has had to make more than one customer sad by rejecting the Bosch style units.
