I'm also going to give you some advice you probably don't want. Unless this treatment you're going to pay for has a high probability of curing your dog, just say no, and stop your dog's suffering by putting him/her down in a painless and humane manner.

So often I hear of people putting thousands of dollars into their pets, only to have the pet's suffering linger on and on with the same ultimate result.

The question you need to ask yourself objectively, is "Am I doing this for the dog or for me?"

Of course, it's easy for me to sit here and preach. I have a German Shorthair that I will have a VERY hard time letting go of when her time comes. We actually got her from a breeder that lived between Smith Mountain Lake and Bedford. Our daughter lives in Forest, so we're close to you.

I wish you well however you decide to go.

Sadly I must agree with this statement. My in laws spent a lot of money on their dog when it had a cancer in the mouth, when it came back the vet refused to operate again.
Our dog later had cancer in her spine and the vet said it could possibly be treated, with the other dog in mind we said no and had her put down. We all cried and felt that we had not done her right, but in our hearts we knew that we had done what was required to save her anymore pain.
Whatever you decide you have my thoughts with you.
