I'd be asking the store management for a list of deliveries for the day/time and ask for permission to post some notices asking for possible witnesses. Someone might have seen it. A friend of mine had his windshield wiper stolen off his Lexus SUV at Home Depot. He asked for the tapes but the manager said store policy prevented him from releasing them. This involves enough money that I would ask the police to make the request on your behalf.

Too, at the end of the day, I think that your ever supportive wife has the right idea.
