You could drill a hole and then bond-glue a ftting to the outside of the pipe if the internal threading bugs you. You could also look at electrical fittings for EMT (electrical metal tubing) and find a fitting that you put inside the tube and have the threads sticking on the outside of the tubing. Add the jamb nut to the exterior and its secure, now the tubing can be fitted with some creativity OVER the threaded end of the connector. Glide along the shelves at LOWES and your find many options that may stir your juices. Woody Enjoy.
