Rekcah, sorry to hear about your problems. But I'm glad you posted it. It sounds like it might be something for anybody who has ever driven on the Dragon may want to take a look at.
Good Luck with the repair, like Doc said, most any shop should be able to steer you in the right direction to find a welder.
Show it to your friend, I'm sure he knows how to properly "shield" any potentially dangerous areas from damage.
