Default Job Change

Like Pizzaguy, I'm changing jobs. I've had my own consulting business for about 12 years now. And while times have been good since doing so, the past couple of years have been lean due to the economy. And my job dictated that I travel every week. For instance, I just got back from Temiscaming, Quebec in Canada from an 8-wk assignment at a paper mill. Most work right now is international. I turned down a 12-mth assignment in 2012 to go to a Russian mining operation (3-wks on / 3-wks off; and the money was REAL GOOD!). And since Roberta & I lost our oldest son back in March, 2010, she doesn't have any family around anymore whenever I was out of town. Denny was good company for her when I traveled. Kept her mind off things.

Anyway, on November 7th, I'm taking on the role as Reliability Engineer - Asset Management Strategy for Goglanian Bakeries. I'll be based out of the Fountain Inn, SC site, which is only 10-15 minutes from the domestic castle. Keeps me home every night. There will be trips to others locations (California, Illinois, New York) as I'm responsible for seeing that all facilities perform to a standard & deliver quality product at lowest possible cost. But these trips wil be scattered across the year rather than every week.

So, at 60 I start the final leg of my professional career. The additional upside of this role is that we can start again our weekend outings in the XFire and makes GTG's much easier to attend.

Later,
