Default Re: HID Install Lows and Fogs with Pictures

James,

I can't add or improve on the information Max provided, and agree that 4300 may be your best bet.

I'm answering only because I just converted mine, and then made a trip from northern Mississippi to Tampa and back, with lots of opportunity to evaluate. I am no longer afraid to drive the car at night.

The change to HID's is not cosmetic, though if you go too blue, it will amount to that. Most posts I could find mentioned 5000, with a few with the bluer lights. Very few mentioned the 4300, and the seller (ebay) I found didn't list them, or I didn't see them.

Mine are 5000, and do seem a little bluer than I'd prefer, but the improvement is so great that they could be pink or green and I'd still be happy. I think mine were about $35 shipped. If they quit now, I'd have gotten my money's worth. The deer agree!

Somewhere here or on a vendor's site, I read that the yellower wavelengths penetrate the fog better, so if you go HID, consider shifting more toward 3000. It may not match the low beams, but I'm more interested in what I see, than in what sees me.

If you are inclined, this really is a simple modification.

Oh, search LED and you'll find a lot of information assembled in one post.

Good luck. Enjoy the extra light!
