I despise artificially low speed limits that are used as speed traps. We have a few around here, and the county, the city, and the transport police have a biweekly rotation going. I'm thinking of a stretch of 7 lane state highway that skirts the jetport and does not have a single driveway or intersection for 1.5 miles ... and is posted at 40 mph. Typical traffic consists of clusters of 5 to 10 cars at 30 second intervals, so its not especially busy.

If I were King I would decree that fines and property confiscations should go to the general fund and not to the law enforcement coffers. Enforcement activities should not be driven by the profit motive. Those who have the legal use of force against us should not be using the public as an income stream for their department.
