Buying cheap is good, as long as you know what you're doing. It's one thing to pay 14 to 15K for a great car, and buying one for 11K, and having multiple expensive repairs to do, that could cost mega $$$, and tie the car up while making these repairs. On the other hand, paying 14 to 15K does not quarantee a good car, you still need to know what you're doing.

I have to agree with this train of thought, deals are out there to be had, but just getting a good price doesn't mean a good deal.
I looked at an 05 roadster on the local car lot with 34,000 miles terrible black paint scratches, curb rash and bald tires that they wanted 16,900 for. I offered them 10,000 just so I could bring it home and clean it up and give it the TLC it deserved, kind of like the puppy in the dog pound, but of course they think they are sitting on a gold mine...
