I'll start by saying that Kim and I are okay. We both walked away without a scratch, she has a sprained foot but nothing major.
It was a Chrysler-on-Chrysler accident, a Pacifica turned left in front of us and we were in the far right lane, doing ~40mph.
Someone in the far left lane had let him out, traffic was stopped in the middle lane and my lane was wide open. He had gunned it, and was in our lane -- I
maybe ten feet to bring it to a halt. Wet roads prevented that. We t-boned him, rolled his SUV and deployed both airbags in my car. The other driver was uninjured from what I would tell... Front end on mine is obliterated. Frame is tweaked as well, we couldn't even open the passenger door. Eventually I had to pry it open, bending the fender. Engine is up against firewall.
He was ticketed, as I was in the right of way. His insurance company will be contacting me, to work it all out.
The Crossfire's build protected us. Had we been in Kim's Honda, the outcome would have been a lot worse.
So... I'm bummed but God is good. We were kept safe, and we will find another car. Those are easily replaced. I'll try to salvage what I can from the car, to pass along to my next replacement. I'll need a few days to gather my thoughts, so no vultures please.
Cheers,
