Re: Project Crossfire - a Rotrex Supercharged Limited!
Friggin Awesome So Far! I absolutely couldn't ask for anything better!
I plugged in the SRT-6 ECU, swapped MAP sensors, disabled the EGR, avoided making any other wiring changes at the time, car wouldn't start.
Bought an SDS, it arrived earlier than anticipated, called rudy after I had it connected, 5 minutes later she came alive, idled perfect and runs like a champ to the 2-3 psi I ran her to today!
I see error codes for the SC Clutch and Charge Air Cooler in DAS but no CELS yet! It also pulls aggressively for the amount that I did push it so I don't "sense" that it is pulling spark. The AFR was perfect!
It will be interesting to see if the Mercedes logic surrounding the SC Clutch and Charge air cooler defeat each other only and don't come in as a factor in determining spark or imposed limits based on MAP sensor readings, etc. If that's the case, Hell Ya, no need to "defeat" them.
I'll have to put many more miles and complete several trips to make sure that no CELS pop up, but so far so damn good!
This is actually pretty exciting. My entire system has been tweaked and simplified to the nth degree and the SRT-6 ECU is like icing on the cake because everything just suddenly came together like magic and even better than expected!
I don't want to get ahead of myself as I still have plenty of testing to prove things out. I also need to prove out whether or not the AEM will be necessary or not. I've said this before but I'm hoping that with my higher compression and a stock SRT-6 tune equates to an SRT-6 after market tune! That would be the ultimate!
Speaking of tune, so far, after a 35 minute drive my LTFTs are sitting pretty at 1.6% !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Replicating what I have now and potentially creating Modded SRT-6 power is as follows:
Necessary Parts
SRT6 ECU
SRT6 Injectors
SRT Map Sensor
Rotrex Supercharger
Custom Mounts
Custom Alternator drive pulley
Custom Inlet Restrictor (Boost Control - If Required)
SC Drive Belt
Air/Water Intercooler and Massive HE
Hoses, Clamps, Misc. IC
*Coolant Reservoir relocate
*EGR delete
*Short Runner Delete
Probably just under $5k, less based on ones ability to find deals on used SRT-6 parts
Optional Supporting Mods
Wideband - $350.00
SPD Datalogger and Knock Sensor - $$
?? - Blue Top Solenoids - $300.00
?? - SRT-6 Tranny and rear end - $$
I have an SRT tranny on the way to be able to go/test in any direction I so desire (Full power, grippy tires, track worthy car or some flavor thereof). I'm not sure if I'm going to install it just yet, but it is there and waiting if the time comes. The great news is that others could go this route and use a restrictor to limit boost and stay within the limits of the 330 tranny to keep costs down, but they would also have a system they could turn up if they ever had the desire to go hog wild!!!
