Incidentally, I sometimes sit as the judicial officer on small claims matters. When things like this come before some of us with the service company tryiing to hide the ball on the consumer, we can go through the roof and even assure that you are made whole for all the trouble as well as the financial loss.
I with you on this one. Smash and grab... I can't understand why a dealership wouldn't own up to that, since they would be insured for this, although they tell you they aren't responsible for that kind of thing when you leave your car with them. Bullshit, as I would go down to the local jurisdiction and talk to someone in their detective division, tell them your story, and see if a crime report was filed for that dealership. Hell, it may have been one of their own, is why they didn't tell you. Good luck either way, but I smell a coverup.
