I believe you have only 1 year in TN, John to file suit if that's where this is going, but I suspect it won't. That's not alot of time to sort out real injury from healing, but just letting you know. To protect your overall rights, you'd have to file suit then from 1 year, I'd advise at the outside 11 months from the date of loss, and hen at least you have plenty of time to get it sorted out. I personally would not recommend settlement now, just wait to ensure that everything's cool. You have time for that. OTOH, if you are fine and healed and all that, then of course your claim gets devalued and would only be based on the period between injury and being done, but it would likely be in the same value as if you settled now anyway.
