If I had 50k to spend on a Vette, I don't think I'd spend it on a new one. (Even though I know they are really great cars.) They're just so common.
I would probably try to find the nicest "driver", '63 - '67 coupe I could find.
The last time I went shopping for a new Vette was in the early spring of 1983. Sitting in the showroom right next to a brand new "84" Vette was a beautiful '65 or '66 coupe, 327 - 300 hp - 4 spd. for exactly 1/2 the price of the new one. It was black with a white interior, and was perfect. If it had been "electric blue" or red, I probably would have bought it. Not that I have anything against black cars, they're just too hard to keep clean for me. I usually prefer "colors" that's all. Now when I look back, I sure could kick myself for not buying it, but as they say, "hind sight is always 20-20).
I realize this has nothing to do with this thread, but I just thought I'd chime in. Sorry.
