Default Re: free gas & maintenance for 2 years...

I heard the deal basically amounts to the buyer getting a $2,400 debit card that will work on anything. Is there any logical reason one would want to pay $2,400 more on the price of the car, roll that amount into a loan and be taxed on it, and then get some of the money back in the form of a debit card? Here's my suggestion. The dealership can keep the stupid debit card, and just knock $2,400 more off the price of the car. Meanwhile, that $2,400 that was not rolled into the price of the car can sit in an account somewhere, earning interest.

This amounts to a sorry gimmick to move the metal, if I ever saw one. And, by the way, anyone notice how all of these incentives have miraculously killed the resale of our cars?
