Look at the owners manual and look at the parts that should be oiled and greased, hinges, latches etc. everyone forgets them, then they complain when the door creaks. An ounce of maintenance is worth a pound of cure.

Seriously, you are 100% correct. Follow the owner's manual and be diligent...and thankful these aren't high-strung (cough...any high end Italian piece...cough).
