Since you're going to have everything apart, gut the elbow and add 5 additional ponies, ON TOP of the gains noticed by the MAF/TB. Most people clip the slats out, and dremel the remnants smooth with the walls of the elbow.
Doing that will give you an unobstructed 3" path from filter inlet to intake mani... Should give you lots of good midrange.
