On the way home yesterday evening, I had a fellow in a Maserati Quatroporte (mildly modded, at least some rims) nearly get in an accident from the other side of the road trying to figure out what I was driving. He was not looking because of the mini-van grille or the sebring hood that Chrysler gave us, or the powerplant that Mercedes gave us, he was looking at the CAR that I have made my XF. IMHO through my own blood, sweat, and tears I have modified the car and she wins shows and get awards. This is because it is understated and classy, not because it is ricey.
Things like subtle OEM paint on items that were cheap faded plastic from the factory and making the car symmetrical by debadging shows that the owner has style and originality beyond what you can simply purchase off the show room floor. Sometimes this style, and the multiple show trophies, inspire others to dislike or be jealous. Dislike all you want, but respect the work that it took to get it where it is, don't just write it all off as ricey, because most of the modded euros I see are debadged, and some of them cost more than the average house
