Like all crossfire owners, if you wait long enough, you can get an srt for a fair price, but its just not worth the sacrifice of more than 7gs at this point.
Considering that I recently (two nights ago) went to the Nissan web page
and "built" a 350Z to a specification similar to the SRT6 (as close as a 350Z
will get, anyway), and found the price to be at $45K, without adding in the
optional wheels (which adds about $4+K to the price), I can't see why so
many people are complaining about the price of an SRT6. The SRT6 is, in
my opinion (and proven on test tracks), a superior vehicle to the Nissan
350Z, and prices run in similar ranges, yet so many people seem to think
that the SRT6 is not priced "fairly".
I've been driving my SRT6 for 13 months now, and it has never failed to
perform. The only mechanical problem I've found was a transmission
seal leak, for which there had already been a TSB issued. I've got 22K
on the odometer, and the car still performs like it did when I had only 3K.
And, believe me when I say I'm not shy about putting the petal to the
metal, or whipping down twisty mountain roads at better than twice the
rated speed for the curves.
In the final analysis, when I consider what the price of competing cars
can be, what they provide in performance and styling, and the problems
being reported on various forums, for each, I cannot say that the price
I paid is unfair. Would I have liked a cheaper price? Of course, who would
not? If you can get one at a cheaper price, go for it if you want one. The
value is there and the price is more than fair.
