I hear a lot of people quoting the figure of "928" SRT-6 Roadsters, where did this figure actually come from, was this a figure that was released by Chrysler or a number that just has become "folklore" amongst enthusiasts?

I tried to get some info from Chrysler Australia and their record keeping is quite poor. I am unsure how Companies such as Chrysler Corp, could be so poor at keeping records about the vehicles that they build, I thought it would be mandatory for Taxation, recalls, law suits etc etc to have every vehicle built to be accounted for "somewhere" in their systems..
